Army MOS 14S Air & Missile Defense Crewmember

The 14S Air & Missile Defense Crewmember (AMD)is responsible for operating the avenger system; a lightweight, highly mobile weapon system that provides air defense protection against air and land attacks.

The AMD supervises, operates or serves as a member of a lightweight, highly mobile, air defense weapons systems.

Primary duties include:

  • Operate the AVENGER and Man Portable Air Defense System weapons systems
  • Establish radio/wire communications and maintain situation maps
  • Perform target engagement evaluations
  • Operate “friend or foe” identification equipment
  • Resupply ammunition and prepare systems for firing

14S Training Requirements

Job training for a AMD requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training held at Fort Bliss, TX.

Vision: Normal Color Vision

Physical Demands Rating: Medium

Security Clearance: Secret

Additional Notes: Must be a minimum of 64″ and be a U.S. citizen
